Tiffany Blue

In October, we made a bouquet for a pre-wedding shoot -- the green and white bouquet featured in our Green Bouquet -- Busy October pt 2We were contacted by ORA Wedding Photography not long after requesting for a bouquet and boutonniere for the same couple on their wedding day. The bride did not have any specific flowers in mind, however, she did request that the colours be white and Tiffany Blue. Now for some males (the other half of Blooming Bouquet), had no idea what Tiffany Blue looked like, so here is a picture for reference.

We couldn't think of any flowers that grew naturally with this shade and neither could our wholesaler so we found the flower with the closest shade and choose to use a ribbon that was also similar in colour.

Our end product was this:

Hydrangea + Roses + Waxflowers

Fall Bouquet

Back in October, we were contacted by MAP Design Group regarding an engagement photoshoot that required a bouquet. The only instructions given by the couple was that there would be no white flowers -- given such an opportunity to be as creative as we wanted, we set out for the wholesalers to decide which flowers would ultimately end up in the bouquet.

Alstromeria + Roses + Waxflowers

Since the photoshoot took place in fall, we decided that the bouquet should reflect that, hence we choose flowers that were in the hues of orange and yellow.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Green Bouquet - Busy October pt 2

Beautiful bouquet for the beautiful bride
Here is another bouquet we did for a wedding photo shoot in mid October. We used green and white and tried to keep things clean, playing with an asymmetrical design. In here are stargazer lilies, green hydrangeas, daisies and mums. Thanks to ORA Wedding Photography for letting us tag along on their photo shoot.

Tip of the day: Not that this happened to us, but whenever you are large lilies such as the stargazers, make sure you don't get the pollen on you because they will stain (especially white wedding dresses) rather quickly. So make sure that the stems are removed!

Christmas Bouquet - Late October

This is the last bouquet we finished in our flower design class. A mixture of red roses, orchids, red snow berries, carnations, glitter and evergreen; the end product reminds me of a mini Christmas tree. And of course, thanks to Annching Wang for taking these pictures.

florist perspective - the first meeting

Hello readers!

Today I met for the second time with one of our first wedding clients. T+J are such a delightful couple and after our initial meeting, we went back and forth to figure out what they were looking for in terms of flowers.

We have made a few decisions so far. Their initial colour scheme was purple, green, and white. After looking at a few samples and pictures, we feel that purple, especially dark purple is difficult to match in with trio of lighter colours.

Colour schemes are important for weddings. It is important to remember that flowers are often limited to certain colours unless they are sprayed. For this client, we will primarily be using roses, calla lilies and a few orchids. As wedding flowers, roses and calla lilies are quite popular. The good thing about roses is that they come in so many colours. We found over 700 colours of different roses in one internet gallery. Calla lilies come in a fewer colours, with the most popular being white, dark purple, orange/red, and green.

Calla Lilies

Roses - so many colours (my mind just exploded)

With all that being said, white is a very popular and workable wedding colour; many flowers come in white and white can be matched with almost any other colour. Roses are also great flowers to use as they have such a wide variety of colours. After the meeting today with T+J, we have settled on using fuchsia roses with white calla lilies for the bridal bouquet (purple and white), and white roses + green orchids for the bridesmaids bouquets (white and green).

So for all you couples out there who are looking for a florist for your wedding, there are some basic questions you want to consider first. What colours do you want to use? Do the colours match? When you have a vision, make sure your florist is receptive to your vision and ideas for your big day. Bring in pictures and samples of what you like or even the exact shades or colours you are considering. With these basic questions and a budget, it will be up to the florist to design something appropriate.

Winter White - A Busy October

A couple of weeks ago we had our first studio photoshoot and it was very exciting! Of course, special thanks to ORA Photography and photographer, Annching Wang -- her eye for design is amazing. So visit her at Parker+Muse

The core components of this bouquet are white roses and white cymbidium orchids accented with white feathers, silver eucalyptus and other greens. This bouquet can be easily made into a Spring/Summer wedding bouquet with a few adjustments.

Waiting - because girls are almost always late.
